Refund policy

 

Return & Refund Policy (South Africa, CPA-Aligned)

We want you to enjoy shopping with The Pot Shack. This policy explains your rights and our responsibilities under the South African Consumer Protection Act, 68 of 2008 (CPA).

All customers should read this policy carefully before requesting a return.


1. Return Period

You may return eligible items within 45 days of purchase.

After the 45-day period has passed, The Pot Shack is no longer obliged to accept a return or provide any form of refund or exchange.


 

 

2. Return Eligibility

To qualify for a return:

  • The item must be unused and in the same condition in which it was received.

  • It must be returned with its original packaging, undamaged.

  • Proof of purchase is required.

  • The product must not fall within a non-returnable category.

The item remains your responsibility until it reaches our premises. If the product is damaged while being returned, we cannot issue store credit.


 

3. Non-Returnable Items

Under the CPA and due to the nature of the goods, the following items cannot be returned:

  • Plants (as they are perishable living goods)

  • Gift cards


 

4. Partial Returns

In certain circumstances, we may issue only partial store credit. Examples include:

  • Items showing signs of use

  • Items returned more than 30 days after delivery but still within the 45-day window

  • Items missing parts or original packaging

The Pot Shack reserves the right to assess each return on a case-by-case basis.

 


 

5. Refund Method (Store Credit Only)

All approved refunds are issued as store credit only.

We do not offer:

  • Cash refunds

  • EFT refunds

  • Credit card reversals

Once your return is received and inspected, we will notify you by email regarding approval.

If approved, store credit will be issued in the form of a digital or physical voucher that can be used on any future purchase.


 

6. Defective or Damaged Goods

If an item is defective or damaged on delivery, you must notify us within a reasonable period after discovering the defect, as required by the CPA.

We will assess the defect and may offer, at our discretion:

  • An exchange for the same item, or

  • Store credit

To log a defect claim, email marketing@potshack.net.

Please note that defects caused by misuse, negligence, or incorrect care do not qualify for return under CPA regulations.


 

7. Sale Items

Sale items are not refundable or returnable.

Only full-priced items may be considered for return and store-credit refunds.

 


 

8. Gift Returns

If the item was purchased as a gift and sent directly to you:

  • Approved returns will be refunded as gift credit in your name.

 

If the item was gifted but shipped to the purchaser:

  • Store credit will be issued to the purchaser.

 


 

9. Shipping Costs for Returns

Customers are responsible for all return shipping costs.

Shipping fees are non-refundable. If store credit is issued, the original shipping amount will not be included.

The Pot Shack is not liable for delays or damages caused by third-party couriers.

 


 

10. Processing Times

Once we receive your returned item, we typically process the inspection and store-credit issuance within 7 business days.

Processing times may vary during peak seasons.
